The REAL Reason Why You're Not Productive

We all want to be productive right? Over the last few years, a huge amount of studies, theories, books, and strategies have been published about productivity. Different authors, life coaches, and productivity coaches have specialized in making people more productive in this ever changing world of the 21st century.

However, while there is a lot of different strategies, people seem to be unable to follow these strategies. They find it hard to implement these strategies and they often fail, getting back to their standard routine. So, today I'm going to ask a simple question: Why most people fail when trying to become more productive?

What most people don't know is that, if there is a missing piece in this whole story, things will definitely fall apart quickly. And that missing piece is definitely discipline. If you don't have discipline, you won't be able to stick to whatever changes need to be made and, then, everything will fall apart.

So, how do you develop discipline? Why is it so important in order for you to become more productive? Listen to this podcast episode and find out!

Why Do You Work So Hard If You're Rich?

John, why do you work so hard if you're rich? Today I have received a very interesting question. A viewer asked me why I still work so hard if I'm rich. He also says that he wants to get at that level where he can stop working and just "enjoy life".

Well, I've kind of already discussed this on previous videos I did, but I thought I could do another one. Well, the thing is: My mindset tells me to always improve.

For a long time, I've tried to think that things would come to an end. I've waited a long time for things to end. For example, I waited a long time for me to retire, thinking that nothing would come after. However, this is not the type of mindset you should have.

Watch this video and discover why I still work hard and why you should do it too. Forget waiting for things to come to an end.

Got Fired? Don't Act Like A Victim!

Getting fired is a thing that can happen to all of us. It is hard, it can destabilize your entire life and plans and it can also make you feel like shit. What should you do in cases like that?

There are a lot of different things you can do in order to reestablish your life and job after you get fired. However, the one thing you shouldn't do is acting like a victim.

Acting like a victim will definitely put you in the losing position. It will prevent you from putting yourself in the "active" position and make your go further and search for another job. Instead, you'll feel passive because those things happened to you.

Emptiness: When You Don't Do Things For Yourself

There comes a time in our lives that we simply need to stop and ask ourselves for who are we living for. Today, I received a question from a reader that was literally lost in life.

He quit university, he is suffering from serious parental pressure and he seems completely lost. Meanwhile, he is trying to find his space and he is trying to survive all this.

However, at this time, he seems to be motivated and acting as if he was trying to prove his family wrong. And this is exactly my point here.

Whenever you try to do things for others, it usually ends up in disaster. You feel empty because when you accomplish whatever it is that you're trying to find, you feel empty.

And this is exactly what this podcast is about.

Why Does Programming Suck?

Today I've received a very interesting question from a reader. Why does programming suck? While it may seem a little bit controversial, having a programmer talking about why programming suck, may seem kind of odd but, well... It does suck sometimes.

One of the reasons why programming sucks is the technology. Technology changes at a rapid pace and it is very difficult to keep up with those changes. Another reason why programming sucks is that it can be difficult and well... The building process is also "shitty".

Do you agree with the reasons why programming suck? Do you think programming sucks at first place? Let me know what you think!

Book Publishing Strategy: How To Rank #1 On Amazon?

How To Rank Number 1 On Amazon? As probably the majority of you know, I'm the author of Soft Skills: The Software Developer's Life Manual Book. And with that book, I got ranked #1 on Amazon and I still figure out among the highest ranked books on Software Development.

So, what is the strategy for ranking so high on Amazon's Best Seller Books? Well, the most powerful strategy I have for ranking #1 on Amazon is building up what I call "launch day".

The launch day consists in reuniting all efforts and all actions into one single day, which is the day you'll launch your book. You need to create a very powerful and consistent marketing strategy so you can make a lot of people buy your book on your launch day. Once you do that, you'll hit the #1 spot on the Amazon's Best Seller Books.

It helps not only the ranking but, the more people see your book among the top books of your genre, the easier it will be for you to sell more books.

So, are you interested in figuring out how to rank #1 on Amazon? Listen to this podcast and find out!

Can "Normal Developers" Learn Design?

This is a common question I get asked a lot: Can normal programmers learn design?

You're a programmer... You write code. What if you could step up your game and learn not only how to write code, but to design... Do you think this is possible?

Design is often seen as a mystical subject. It's 8 or 80: You either have "they eye" for design or you don't. What most programmers don't actually realize is that, in fact, they can learn ANYTHING, even design.

If you're a programmer and you want to learn design, however, you'll have to commit. Learning design is a devotion and it is not something you become a master overnight. It takes time, it takes devotion and it can be tricky sometimes.
