"The War Of Art" Book Review (With Many From 2000 Books)
If you reguarly watch this YouTube channel you've probably heard me talking about "The War Of Art" before and how important this book was to my career. This book literally changed a lot of things for me, especially when it comes to getting things done and not wanting everything to be always perfect and realize that motivation comes and goes.
Here is the book description, extracted from Amazon: "Drawing on his many years' experience as a writer, Pressfield (The Legend of Bagger Vance) presents his first nonfiction work, which aims to inspire other writers, artists, musicians, or anyone else attempting to channel his or her creative energies. The focus is on combating resistance and living the destiny that Pressfield believes is gifted to each person by an all-powerful deity. While certainly of great value to frustrated writers struggling with writer's block, Pressfield's highly personal philosophy, soundly rooted in his own significant life challenges, has merit for anyone frustrated in fulfilling his or her life purpose. Successful photographer Ulrich (photography chair, Art Inst. of Boston; coeditor, The Visualization Manual) explores the creative impulse and presents an approach to developing creativity that, like Pressfield's, will be relevant to artists and others. He identifies and explains seven distinct stages of the creative process: discovery and encounter, passion and commitment, crisis and creative frustration, retreat and withdrawal, epiphany and insight, discipline and completion, and responsibility and release. He also develops his view of the three principles of the creative impulse, which include creative courage, being in the right place at the right time, and deepening connections with others. Rooted in Eastern philosophy, Ulrich's fully developed treatise nicely updates the solid works of Brewster Ghiselin (The Creative Process), Rollo May (The Courage To Create), and Julia Cameron (The Artist's Way). It also supplements Pressfield's inspirational thoughts on overcoming resistance through introspective questions and practical exercises that further elaborate the creative process."
However, this time, I decided to call a buddy from 2000 books so we could discuss it together. The results? Watch this video and find out!

Making Choices Based On "Scarcity" (BitCoin Related)

Bottom line: I missed the opportunity.
At first, I got irritated. How could I miss such opportunity?
However, after some time I realized I was making this choice based on scarcity. And I must tell you why you SHOULDN'T be doing this.

Stumbling on Happiness was a powerful book that a lot of people have told me I should read.
Here is the book description extracted from Amazon:
"Bringing to life scientific research in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, philosophy, and behavioral economics, this bestselling book reveals what scientists have discovered about the uniquely human ability to imagine the future, and about our capacity to predict how much we will like it when we get there.
• Why are lovers quicker to forgive their partners for infidelity than for leaving dirty dishes in the sink?
• Why will sighted people pay more to avoid going blind than blind people will pay to regain their sight?
• Why do dining companions insist on ordering different meals instead of getting what they really want?
• Why do pigeons seem to have such excellent aim; why can’t we remember one song while listening to another; and why does the line at the grocery store always slow down the moment we join it?
In this brilliant, witty, and accessible book, renowned Harvard psychologist Daniel Gilbert describes the foibles of imagination and illusions of foresight that cause each of us to misconceive our tomorrows and misestimate our satisfactions. With penetrating insight and sparkling prose, Gilbert explains why we seem to know so little about the hearts and minds of the people we are about to become."

Having An Excuse for the things you do is definitely one of the worst things you can do for yourself.
Once we start to create excuses for ourselves, we kind of lose the power that we have when making free choices. We lose the power to be in control of our choices and how it impacts our lives. We become mere hostages of the circumstances.
How do you deal with that? Don't let yourself have an excuse!

Gatekeepers... You all know that I absolutely hate gatekeepers, right?
One of the most common gatekeepers I see is teachers. Since we were kids, we are taught to listen, respect and obey teachers. They absolutely know it all and, we as simple and innocent kids, should just listen to them and absorb what they have to say.
However, some teacher like to limit our potential. Should you let them do that?

"Computer Science students are constantly getting into trouble for lifting entire blocks of code from the Internet.
Yesterday, the New York Times published a fascinating piece about academic dishonesty in the computer science field, which it says is rampant."
"It’s safe to say that in the academic world, plagiarism is a cardinal sin. There is nothing worse. If you get caught, you face sanction, or even expulsion. In the case of the aforementioned Purdue students, they got a zero for their work, and were docked a letter grade.
But in the professional world, things aren’t quite as cut-and-dry.
When you’re a professional coder, the priority isn’t to demonstrate originality with each line and algorithm, but rather to complete tasks as efficiently as possible."

Open Source software has become widely diffused among software developers.
"Open source software is software with source code that anyone can inspect, modify, and enhance.
"Source code" is the part of software that most computer users don't ever see; it's the code computer programmers can manipulate to change how a piece of software—a "program" or "application"—works. Programmers who have access to a computer program's source code can improve that program by adding features to it or fixing parts that don't always work correctly."
(Source: https://opensource.com/resources/what-open-source)
So, although the idea is quite good, is it a viable option for software developers, economically saying?
Is it possible to make a living and a great career using open source software?

"When you’re living in complete congruence, complete alignment, no part of you is conflicting with any other part of you. There is no disagreement. No disturbance. No fakeness.
For a long time, I lived my life highly compartmentalized. I was one person when I was with my friends, a different person at work, and yet another person with family or my wife. It’s this kind of fragmentation that chokes your spirit."

I call the learning bag because this is how most developers face education. They think that their career will skyrocket the more they learn. Suddenly, they have their learning bag full of different programming languages and theoretical knowledge but they... They can't apply it!
